Newsstand: Notre Dame’s Jon Sot given Ray Guy Award week seven honors
Notre Dame has struggled this season, losing three games out of six total after coming into the season as a top-five program in the polls. Many Irish fans have joked that Notre Dame’s best player in 2022 has been punter Jon Sot.
But in terms of who on the Notre Dame roster is playing at the highest level at their respective position, they may be right. Sot has been outstanding this fall.
He’s averaging 45.4 yards per punt and downs opponents inside their own 20 at a 48.1 percent clip. In five of Notre Dame’s six contests, he’s boomed a punt of at least 54 yards. Against Ohio State, he had a punt go 75 yards.

Sot transferred to ND in the offseason after spending four seasons at Harvard. He is from Clark, N.J.
