Social media reacts to Notre Dame QB Steve Angeli's decision to enter the transfer portal

On Thursday, the Notre Dame football program received clarity on its quarterback competition.
According to a report from On3 college sports business and transfer portal reporter Pete Nakos, Fighting Irish senior Steve Angeli intends to enter the transfer portal. Angeli will depart from South Bend with two years of college eligibility remaining.
Angeli’s decision comes five days after head coach Marcus Freeman voluntarily said he would like to have a two-quarterback battle entering fall camp. Angeli competed with sophomore CJ Carr and junior Kenny Minchey for the starting quarterback job during spring practice.
“You would like to be able to kind of go in the fall with a two-quarterback battle,” Freeman told reporters after the Blue-Gold Game. “It’s really hard with truly having a three-quarterback battle. But we’ve got to sit down and have conversations about what’s best for our program, what’s best for our quarterbacks, and we’ll make those decisions in the future.”
Angeli was the most efficient passer during Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage, completing 8-11 passes for 108 yards and 1 touchdown. He averaged about 1 more yard per attempt (9.8 > 8.9) than Carr, who was 14-19 for 170 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception. Minchey went 6-14 for 106 yards.
