Rising Notre Dame 2025 CB target Cree Thomas sets commitment date
One of Notre Dame Football’s top defensive back targets in the 2025 cycle is set to come off the board. On Saturday, Phoenix Brophy College Prep cornerback Cree Thomas announced on social media that he will reveal his commitment on Nov. 20.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Thomas has decided to close his recruitment following two unofficial college recruiting visits to South Bend this fall. He initially visited for the Oct. 14 Southern California game and then returned when the Irish hosted Pittsburgh on Oct. 28.
Following his most recent Notre Dame visit, Thomas told Blue & Gold he considered what mattered most when making a commitment. Now, he is ready to make one.
“Family — I want to know that I’m needed there not just as a player and have genuine connections with the people there,” he said. “I want to feel involved at the school. Playing football at the biggest stage is important to me, too.”
Thomas also reported game-day visits to Arizona and Wisconsin this fall. Both those programs have offered him a scholarship, as well as Arizona State, Boston College, California and Purdue.
The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — considers Thomas the No. 372 overall player, No. 43 cornerback and No. 2 prospect in Arizona in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He has an 88.61 rating.
In On3’s own rankings, Thomas is also the No. 43 cornerback nationally but the No. 3 prospect in Arizona. On3 most recently gave him an 88 rating.

During its St. Patrick’s Day-themed “Pot of Gold Day” recruiting event, Notre Dame offered Thomas a scholarship. Sixty-four other 2025 class prospects also reported Irish offers that day. He eventually made his first trip to South Bend about a month later on April 15.
The Irish made an outstanding first impression on Thomas about seven months ago.
“My visit to Notre Dame was truly phenomenal,” he told Blue & Gold back in April. “The main highlights were being able to talk about not only football but life in general with some of the coaches and really getting to know the staff.”
Thomas attends the same school that produced Notre Dame freshman All-America cornerback Benjamin Morrison.
Notre Dame’s 2025 class already features eight commits. On Friday, the Irish picked up their most recent one in Elmhurst (Ill.) Immaculate Conception Prep linebacker Dominik Hulak. However, they are still seeking their first defensive back commit.
