Arkansas RB Daniel Anderson decommits from Notre Dame football
Bryant (Ark.) High’s Daniel Anderson is no longer a part of Notre Dame’s 2025 football recruiting class. The three-star running back announced the news on Thursday evening.
“First, I would like to thank the coaching staff and everyone in the Notre Dame family for believing in me and welcoming me to the ND family,” Anderson wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “After further conversations with my family, who have helped me get to this point, I have decided to reopen my recruitment for the 2025 class.”
Anderson camped for the Notre Dame staff for Irish Invasion in June 2023. At that time, he only held an offer from Long Island. The Fighting Irish offered him that day. He added a few more — namely from Colorado, Mississippi State and Tennessee — in the ensuing weeks before announcing his commitment to the Irish on Sept. 23. 2023. He announced his pledge a few hours before Notre Dame kicked off against Ohio State while on campus.
But Anderson and the Notre Dame staff have parted ways. It remains to be seen if the Irish will fill the void left by Anderson at the running back spot in the 2025 cycle. It’s very possible that they don’t.
The 5-11, 190-pounder has been to Notre Dame six times; he most recently made it to campus for the Grill and Chill at the end of July.
Anderson ranks as the No. 686 overall player and No. 56 running back in America according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The Irish are down to 21 commitments and one running back pledge in the 2025 class. Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit’s Justin Thurman, the No. 435 overall prospect and No. 35 running back in the land, remains solidly pledged to the Fighting Irish.

Through four games of his senior season, Anderson has recorded 34 carries for 232 yards with 5 touchdowns. Due to injury, he was only able to play in four games as a junior and posted 35 carries for 283 yards with 4 rushing scores.
During his sophomore year, Anderson had 74 rushes for 856 yards and 11 touchdowns in Bryant’s undefeated, state-title-winning season.
