Notre Dame offer was a ‘huge’ surprise for 2025 RB Daniel Anderson
Whether or not Daniel Anderson ends up playing at Notre Dame won’t make a difference on how important his first trip to South Bend in the grand scheme of his football career.
When he arrived to South Bend the weekend of June 3 to participate in the staff’s Irish Invasion camp that Sunday, he only held an offer from Long Island. And heading into the camp, his only contact with the staff was with from director of high scouting Dre Brown, who invited Anderson to the camp.
“I hadn’t spoken with any of the coaches before the camp,” the class of 2025 running back from Bryant (Ark.) High stated.
The 5-11, 190-pounder had a strong camp performance.
“I feel like I did really well,” Anderson said. “I showed out. I learned a lot from the coaches there. It was a great camp overall.”
Anderson noticed that a few Notre Dame coaches were watching him closely during the camp, and after the conclusion of the event, a staff member gave him a tour of campus. And then he had a conversation with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and got the news of a scholarship offer from the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame is typically not the first major school to offer a prospect.
“It was a huge surprise,” Anderson added.
Anderson’s conversation with Freeman was a memorable moment.
“He said I did really well and was proud of the work I put in,” recalled Anderson. “He didn’t care that I didn’t have any offers besides LIU. He wanted to see my skills and based off that, he liked what he saw and wanted to give me the offer.”

Anderson liked what he saw at Notre Dame as a whole.
“The campus and facilities were very nice,” he said. “The buildings were all top-notch and impressive.”
The rising junior prospect tells Blue & Gold that he’s set to return to Notre Dame July 30 for a visit. The staff is hosting a cookout recruiting event that is mainly for 2025 prospects.
Anderson is scheduled to visit Arkansas State and Ole Miss this month as well.
He also camped at Tennessee, Mississippi State and Auburn in June. The Bulldogs and Volunteers offered him after seeing him at camp as well.
Notre Dame doesn’t have a 2025 running back commitment yet but have two locked in for the 2024 class. Hannibal (Mo.) High’s Aneyas Williams pledged to the Irish last winter, while Lufkin (Texas) High’s Kedren Young picked Notre Dame in early June.
