Three Notre Dame commits listed in latest 2026 On300 rankings update

On3 hasn’t updated its 2026 recruit rankings since last October, which in the world of recruiting is a long time ago. Much has changed in the landscape of the class, and the On3 scouting and rankings team has made an update to the rising senior class.
Notre Dame came into the day with three of its seven commits ranked inside the On300, and that’s the case following today’s update. With such an overhaul to the rankings, there are many drops with so many new prospects added to the On300 (about 55 new players), and the Irish commits were not immune to that.
Mechanicsburg (Pa.) Tyler Merrill‘s checks in as the nation’s No. 115 overall player and No. 8 interior offensive lineman per On3. He was previously the No. 72 player and No. 5 interior lineman in America.
Davison (Mich.) High’s Ben Nichols had a slight drop in the national ranking but a small move up in his position rankings, and his On3 ranking remains highest among the four major recruiting media outlets. He’s now the No. 233 overall recruit and No. 15 interior lineman in the land. Nichols was the No. 209 player and No. 17 interior lineman nationally prior to today.
Notre Dame’s coveted cornerback pledge Chaston Smith out of McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn. remains in the On300 as the No. 299 player and No. 30 corner in the country. He was previously the No. 243 player and No. 18 cornerback nationally.

The following Notre Dame commits currently rank outside the On300: Lake Mary (Fla.) High quarterback Noah Grubbs, Allegan (Mich.) High interior offensive lineman Sullivan Garvin, Matthews (N.C.) Weddington linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. and Boca Raton (Fla.) Saint Andrew’s School wide receiver Dylan Faison. But keep in mind that there’s a long ways to go until early 2026 when the rankings for the class become finalized.
And this is just On3’s own rankings; we primarily use the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting services — when noting rankings in articles at Blue & Gold.
Garvin got a bump from three-star to four-star status. He’s now the No. 28 interior offensive lineman in America. Davis was bumped to a high three-star by On3.
A handful of Notre Dame’s top 2026 targets saw notable bumps up in the national rankings, including but not limited to Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park EDGE Rodney Dunham (No. 7), Mansfield (Texas) Lake Ridge offensive tackle Felix Ojo (No. 10), Garner (N.C.) South Garner EDGE Ebenezer Ewetade (No. 35, was previously a three-star), Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School wide receiver Naeem Burroughs (No. 20), Great Bend (Kan.) High tight end Ian Premer (No. 25) and Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield cornerback Khary Adams (No. 30).
