Commit Tracker: Notre Dame LB signee Anthony Sacca leads team to another state title in Week 16
For the third consecutive season, Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep four-star linebacker Anthony Sacca is a state champion. The Notre Dame commit led the Hawks defense to another title with several game-changing tackles in a 35-6 victory against Pittsburgh Central Catholic on Saturday.
Each week during this high school football season, Blue & Gold reports on how each Notre Dame Fighting Irish commit and their teams perform. In addition to Sacca, just two are still playing in the postseason. Here is how he, 2026 quarterback Noah Grubbs and linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. performed in their Week 16 games from Dec. 6-7.

Posted 7 tackles (6 solo), 2 stops for loss and 1 sack in Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep’s (11-2) 35-6 victory against Pittsburgh Central Catholic (12-3) in the Pennsylvania Class 6A state championship.

Four-star QB Noah Grubbs (Notre Dame 2026 commit)
Completed 14-24 passes for 227 yards and had 8 carries for 49 yards and 1 touchdown in Lake Mary (Fla.) High’s (12-2) 42-3 victory over Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips (12-2) in the semifinals of the Florida Class 7A state tournament.
Next game: vs. Venice (Fla.) High (13-1) in the Florida Class 7A state championship Dec 14.
Season stats: 14 games | 187-313, 2,781 yards, 34 TD, 10 INT; 28 carries, 116 yards, 5 rushing TD.
Four-star LB Thomas Davis Jr. (Notre Dame 2026 commit)
Matthews (N.C.) Weddington (13-0) beat Kernersville (N.C.) East Forsyth (13-1) 37-21 in the fourth round of the North Carolina Class 4A state tournament. Davis’ complete stats were unavailable at this posting time.
Next game: vs. Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley in the semifinal round of the North Carolina Class 4A state tournament.
NOTRE DAME COMMITS SEASON PREVIOUSLY COMPLETE
Four-star OT Matty Augustine
Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School’s season has concluded. The Bruins finished 8-2 and lost in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Championship.
Season stats: A part of an O-line that only allowed 1 sack and rushed for 2,229 yards (8.3 yards per carry) and 30 rushing touchdowns
Three-star WR Jerome Bettis Jr.
College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy’s season has concluded. The War Eagles finished 8-4 and lost in the second round of the Georgia Class 5A state tournament.
Season stats: 11 games | 36 receptions, 630 yards, 7 TD | 47 tackles (38 solo), 1 TFL, 1 pass breakup, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles.
Five-star OT Will Black
Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall’s season is complete. The Wild Boars finished 9-0 and won the NEPSAC championship.

Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor’s season has concluded. The Spartans finished 8-3 and lost in the first round of the North Carolina Class 4A state tournament.

Cincinnati St. Xavier’s season is complete. The Bombers finished 10-4 and lost in the regional final of the Division I Ohio State Tournament.
Sulfsted missed his senior year due to injury.

Phoenix Brophy’s season is complete. The Broncos finished 10-3 and lost in the semifinal round of the Arizona Class 6A state tournament.
