Commit Tracker: Notre Dame WR pledge, NFL legacy recruit logs third 100-yard game in Week 7

Another Notre Dame football legacy recruit is excelling in the high school ranks ahead of his college enrollment. On Friday night, Elijah Burress — the son of former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress — posted his third 100-yard receiving game of the season and tacked on a pair of touchdowns to go along with it.

Each week during this high school football season, Blue & Gold will report on how each Notre Dame Fighting Irish commit and their teams perform during the 2024 football season.

Here is how 17 of 23 Notre Dame commits that competed in Week 7 fared.

Four-star OT Matty Augustine

Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School (4-0) beat Avon (Conn.) Avon Old Farms (2-2) 35-14. With the help of Augustine and the Bruins O-line, their rushers racked up 241 yards on the ground.

Three-star WR Jerome Bettis Jr. 

Snagged an interception and 1 pass for 4 yards in College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy‘s (4-3) 38-0 win against Atlanta Tri-Cities (4-2). Also had 3 solo tackles.

Next game: vs. Atlanta (Ga.) Dunwoody (2-5) Oct. 11.

Season stats: 7 games | 15 receptions, 275 yards, 4 TD | 24 tackles (20 solo), 1 pass breakup, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles.

Four-star OT Will Black

Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall (3-0) beat Pawling (N.Y.) Trinity Pawling (1-2) 45-7.

Next game: at Watertown (Conn.) The Taft School (1-2) Oct. 12.

Four-star S JaDon Blair

Racked up 14 solo tackles in Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor‘s (4-2) loss to Kernersville (N.C.) East Forsyth (6-0).

Next game: at Mocksville (N.C.) Davie County (2-5) Oct. 11.

Season stats: 4 games | 37 tackles (33 solo), 1 TFL, 1 caused fumble; 11 catches, 158 yards, 2 touchdowns; 1 carry, 1 yard; 3 punt returns, 11 yards

Four-star EDGE Christopher Burgess Jr.

Led the team with 12 tackles (6 solo), 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 quarterback hurry in Chicago Simeon‘s (5-1) 30-14 win against Chicago Amundsen (3-3).

Next game: at Chicago Kenwood (2-4) Oct. 12.

Brought in 4 passes for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns in Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic’s (6-0) 21-20 victory over Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep (2-3).

Rushed 13 times for 154 yards and 1 touchdown and had a 21-yard catch in Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep‘s (3-3) 45-7 victory against Valrico (Fla.) Bloomingdale (2-4).

Four-star QB Noah Grubbs (Notre Dame 2026 commit)

Completed 13-15 passes for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns in Lake Mary (Fla.) High‘s (4-2) 42-7 win over North Miami Beach (Fla.) High (2-4). Also had a rushing touchdown.

Four-star EDGE Dominik Hulak
