Dallas Golden breaks down official visit, Notre Dame commitment status, more
Notre Dame secured one of its biggest commitments in the 2025 class April 28 when Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep’s Dallas Golden announced his pledge to the Irish over Clemson, Georgia, Florida State and others.
The nation’s No. 107 overall recruit and No. 11 safety according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking hadn’t been to South Bend for a few months before making his decision, and he was able to make it back to campus the weekend of June 7 for his official visit.
When asked if his official visit helped solidify his commitment, Golden’s answer was a resounding yes.
“Absolutely, no doubt,” he said. “When I was up there for my official, that solidified my decision from the way they treated me. They talk to me the same as if I’m committed or uncommitted. This is the right decision.
“Nothing is ever awkward with them. It feels like I’ve known them for my entire life. You get that bond and connection, especially with the guys who are already committed. With the players who are committed to Notre Dame, I have a way better relationship with them than any other school.
“I had a great time. It solidified my decision for sure.”
Golden loved his Notre Dame official visit from the start. When the visitors arrived, Irish director of player personnel Chad Bowden announced the entrance of each prospect, which made for an funny experience for the prospects. Golden raved about his time spent with the other recruits, whether it was just hanging out at the hotel or going golfing.
“The vibes were amazing,” he said. “There wasn’t just one specific person I talked to. It was everyone hanging out together. I was trying to get Wu (Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng) to commit, but he’s holding on to it right now, so we’ll see where that goes.”
Golden thinks the world of Irish cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens, who has been recruiting him for the past couple years.

“I had a great time with them,” added Golden. “When we talked about ball, you really get to see how smart he is and how he can develop great cornerbacks like Ben Morrison.”
Golden was one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2025 class, but it doesn’t appear that there’s going to be any late drama with his recruiting process. He’s not in communication with any other schools and has tentative plans to get up to South Bend a couple times this fall.
“Not really, no sir,” said Golden when asked if he’s talking with other schools. “I’m done. I’m trying to get up to Notre Dame for the Louisville and Florida State games.”
Golden’s junior season was sensational in all facets of the game. As an offensive weapon, he ran 205 times for 1,467 yards with 19 touchdowns and added 32 receptions for 394 yards with five more scores. He even threw a touchdown in 2023.
Defensively, Golden posted 9 tackles, 5 interceptions, 4 pass break ups and 1 blocked field goal. He also handled return duties, averaging 25.1 yards per kick return and 3.7 yards per punt return. He had a kickoff return long of 64 yards and punt return long of 33.
Golden helped lead Berkeley Prep to a Florida 2M state championship game, knocking off Miami Norland 28-20. He posted 183 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 23 carries, plus 2 receptions for 38 yards and a score in that contest.
