Perhaps the top target on Notre Dame’s 2024 class recruiting board is ready to reveal his college decision. Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic four-star EDGE Elijah Rushing will announce his verbal commitment on July 6, he confirmed to Blue & Gold.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Rushing will choose between Notre Dame, Arizona, Oregon and Tennessee. He officially visited each one of those schools earlier this month. UCLA also hosted him on an official visit on May 26. However, the Bruins were not named a finalist.

Before checking out the Irish the weekend of June 9, Rushing reported two unofficial visits to South Bend: April 14, 2022, and for the 2021 season Purdue game on Sept. 18. During his most recent visit, the Irish received a close look from Rushing.

“My whole thing was just learning about the players,” Rushing told Blue & Gold. “I did what I came there for, so now I have the best understanding of Notre Dame that I possibly can.”

Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington offered Rushing a scholarship during the Irish annual “Pot of Gold Day” recruiting event on March 17, 2022. That same day, Notre Dame sent out 64 new scholarship offers.

The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — considers Rushing the No. 30 overall player, No. 4 EDGE and No. 1 prospect in Arizona. He has a 96.50 rating.

In On3’s own rankings, he’s the No. 50 overall player, No. 4 EDGE and No. 1 prospect in Arizona. On3 gave him a 95 rating.

Rushing’s On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $191,000. That ranks No. 53 among high school football prospects.

What the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) says about Notre Dame’s chances to land Rushing’s commitment

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) utilizes machine learning to forecast college choices. It provides percentage chances for teams to sign recruits in their respective classes.

The RPM gives Oregon a 70.5% chance to secure Rushing’s commitment. An On3 Recruiting Insider Prediction submitted by Scoop Duck’s Justin Hopkins carries much of the weight. Rushing has unofficially visited Oregon four times in addition to his June 16 official visit.

Notre Dame is in third place at 4.1% to land his pledge, according to the RPM.

The University of Arizona, located about two miles from Rushing’s high school, has a 9.3% chance to keep him in-state, per the RPM. His brother, Cruz Rushing, is a freshman safety for the Wildcats.

The Irish currently have four defensive line commits: Cole Mullins, Sean Sevillano, Loghan Thomas and Bryce Young.
