Four-star defensive back Jahmir Joseph includes Notre Dame football in top five schools
One of the Fighting Irish football’s few remaining defensive back targets in 2025 has narrowed his recruitment to five schools. On Friday, four-star prospect Jahmir Joseph confirmed to Blue & Gold that he is down to Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina and Stanford.
The Irish originally offered the 6-foot, 170-pound Joseph as a cornerback. However, with verbal commitments from four-star corners Dallas Golden and Cree Thomas, they now recruit Joseph as a safety.
The Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional rising junior, Joseph, will officially visit Notre Dame from June 7-9. It will be his first trip to South Bend. He also has official visits scheduled to Stanford (May 30), Penn State (June 14) and South Carolina (June 21).
According to the On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — Joseph is the No. 4 prospect in New Jersey, and the No. 21 cornerback and No. 174 overall player nationally in 2025.

The news of Joseph’s top schools comes after Blue & Gold learned defensive coordinator Al Golden and defensive coach Mike Mickens were at his school May 9. That’s when we also discovered the Irish now recruit him as a safety.
In addition to Joseph, the Irish still recruit Indianapolis Ben Davis cornerback Mark Zackery and Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor safety JaDon Blair. Both are four-star prospects.
Zackery, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 9 cornerback and No. 93 overall player in 2025, will commit on May 25 instead of taking official visits. Blair, the No. 15 safety and No. 138 overall player, plans to make his pledge July 5 after official visits to Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and South Carolina.
