Notre Dame TE signee James Flanigan to play in Navy All-American Bowl
A fourth Notre Dame football signee is set to compete in the Navy All-American Bowl in January.
On Tuesday, four-star tight end James Flanigan from Green Bay (Wis.) Notre Dame de la Baie Academy announced his commitment to the annual high school football all-star game. Flanigan joins Irish 2025 class recruits offensive tackle Will Black, EDGE Christopher Burgess Jr. and linebacker Anthony Sacca by agreeing to play in the game.
The 2025 Navy All-American Bowl will occur at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Jan. 11 and broadcast live on NBC and Peacock at 1 p.m. ET.
Last year, linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, wide receiver Cam Williams, EDGE Bryce Young and running back Kedren Young were at the All-American Bowl. Quarterback CJ Carr and offensive tackle Guerby Lambert previously committed to play. However, Carr opted to join the Irish in bowl practice, and Lambert did not participate due to injury.
The United States Navy is the game’s title sponsor this year, replacing American Family Insurance. From 2001-17, the U.S. Army was the title sponsor of the All-American Bowl, but it chose not to renew its partnership with NBC seven years ago.
The U.S. Army now sponsors the U.S. Army Bowl game (different from the All-American Bowl). It is held at the Dallas Cowboys “STAR” Ford Center Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on Dec. 21, 2024. This year is the fourth edition of the game.
Notre Dame signees defensive lineman Davion Dixon, EDGE Dominik Hulak, linebacker Ko’o Kia and defensive lineman Joe Reiff are all playing in the U.S. Army Bowl.

Flanigan is the No. 6 tight end and No. 117 overall player nationally and the No. 1 prospect in Wisconsin in 2025, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
This past season, he led the NDA Tritons to a state football championship in Wisconsin Division 3 by dominating on offense and defense. He led the team with 25 catches for 609 yards and 11 touchdowns. Flanigan had 85 receptions for 1,832 yards and 28 touchdowns for his career.
