Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco class of 2024 linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa announced a top three schools list of Notre Dame, Ohio State and USC back on April 28. His plan was to officially visit each school in June and then commit to one of them before the start of his senior season.

The elite prospect is holding to that plan. He officially visited all three programs in June and tweeted Monday afternoon that he’ll be announcing his decision July 23.

Notre Dame currently leads for Viliamu-Asa according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 73 percent — in large part due to an insider pick from Blue & Gold — but in all reality, it’s a tight battle for him.

Here’s what Viliamu-Asa recently told On3 about each of his finalists following his official visit to each program:

Ohio State: “Everything was great. I loved it, my parents loved it. We spent a lot of time with the staff and we had a chance to see a lot of Ohio State and what comes with the university … It was important for my family to be able to meet the staff and meet the people who they potentially could be leaving their son with. They did a really good job of presenting who they really are.”

Notre Dame: “It was great. From start to finish, it was really impactful. Everything was intentional to inform me and my family about the benefits of Notre Dame. It was great overall. It was really informative; we learned a lot and saw a lot. We got all of our questions answered about Notre Dame.”

USC: “I would say the most impactful parts was really just spending time with the coaches. Everywhere me and my family went, we were spending time having conversations. They were really getting to know us, and we were getting to know them … One of the biggest highlights came Sunday morning at Coach Riley’s house. We ate breakfast, all of the coaches came out and all they brought their families. We ate breakfast and then had a little Bible study. That was definitely a highlight.”

Viliamu-Asa ranks as the nation’s No. 94 overall player and No. 8 linebacker according to the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking.

He’s visited the local USC Trojans nine times in total and checked out Ohio State five times. He made the trek out to South Bend three times.

“I definitely want to make a decision before my senior year,” he told Blue & Gold after his Notre Dame official. “Going into the fall, I want to be committed and have it set in stone. It’ll most likely be in July.”
