LOOK: Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman, Joe Rudolph checking in on four-star OL commit
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph spent Thursday together on the road. Their day started with checking in at a few schools in the Indianapolis area before heading down to the Peach State to see one of their class of 2024 commits.
They made it to Marietta (Ga.) Sprayberry High, which is where Roswell (Ga.) High had a road game Oct. 19. Roswell is of course home to Notre Dame commit Anthonie Knapp, who ranks as the nation’s No. 363 overall prospect and No. 30 interior offensive lineman per the On3 Industry Ranking.
Freeman and Rudolph are pictured in the image above on the Roswell sideline pregame. During this type of recruiting travel, college coaches are not allowed to have conversations with the prospects they are “evaluating.”
Don’t let that diminish the impact of these types of trips, though. The Notre Dame coaches love seeing their recruits on the road, and it of course means the world to Knapp to have his future position coach and head coach see him in action.
Roswell dominated last night, improving to 8-1 on the season with a 49-7 road win. Sprayberry dropped to 4-4 on the season.
Freeman and Rudolph arrived to the game about an hour before kickoff and stayed for the first half. Knapp had a few pancakes and was intent on impressing Freeman and Rudolph. It’s safe to say his mission was accomplished.

More details on Notre Dame OL commit Anthonie Knapp
It didn’t take long for Knapp to go from a recruit without an Irish offer to being on the Notre Dame commitment list. He picked up an offer from the Irish March 24 during a campus visit, and just five days later, Knapp announced his pledge to the Fighting Irish. Penn State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, Missouri and Louisville were among his other scholarship offers.
As a sophomore in 2021, Knapp was named to the Georgia Region 5-7A All-Region football first-team offense. Knapp, who was a team captain as a junior, reports that he totaled 81 knockdowns during his 2022 season. He was listed on the Georgia Region 5-6A All-Region football first-team offense. Knapp also made it on the 2022 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Fulton County first-team offense.
On3’s own rankings have Knapp as the No. 188 overall prospect and No. 11 interior lineman in America. The other three rankings websites list Knapp as a three-star prospect.
