What On3 director of rankings Charles Power said about Notre Dame QB commit Deuce Knight winning OT7 MVP

On Sunday, the On3’s rankings team named Notre Dame four-star quarterback commit Deuce Knight the most valuable player of the Overtime OT7 championships. On3 director of scouting and rankings, Charles Power, was on hand in Tampa, Fla., to watch the Southpaw signal-caller in the 7-on-7 event.

Lucedale (Miss.) George County’s Knight played for the Coastline Stars, who lost in the championship game to South Florida Express. Still, Power came away impressed by Knight’s performance.

Here is what Power told On3 national recruiting analyst Josh Newberg about Knight’s showing. Entering the event, Power slotted Knight as the No. 54 overall player, No. 6 quarterback nationally and No. 4 prospect in Mississippi in the 2025 class. Power’s quotes have been lightly edited for length and clarity.

On why he named Notre Dame QB commit Deuce Knight MVP:

“Deuce Knight had a great weekend at the OT7 Championship. For starters, we’ve always known Deuce Knight is talented. But we saw the talent manifest on the field this weekend. The arm strength stood out. He threw with a bunch of velocity — made impressive throws. Throughout the weekend, he got better and better each day.

“That’s one thing I was excited to see: the improvement. He was very comfortable in the situation — he was going through his reads. This is a pass-only situation as well. So, he was able to show that he could win from the pocket and throw with accuracy. We know he’s an elite athlete. So if he elevates his passing floor to this degree and makes that improvement, he’s a really exciting prospect and a guy that Notre Dame fans should be excited about.”
