Notre Dame fends off SEC and ACC schools, signs Florida playmaker Dallas Golden
On Nov. 1, On3’s Inside Texas reported that the Longhorns’ coaching staff would be dropping by Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep to help in their efforts to flip impressive two-way athlete Dallas Golden away from his Notre Dame commitment that he gave back in the spring.
A few weeks prior to that, On3’s Steve Wiltfong included in an article that the Miami Hurricanes were having dialogue with Golden in hopes to get him to switch his commitment as well.
For all the talk about the players who decommitment from Notre Dame’s recruiting class, there are many more recruits who remain firm in their Fighting Irish pledges. And Golden is a prime example of that.
Miami and Texas weren’t the only schools trying to flip Golden, either. But he stayed true to his initial decision to pick Notre Dame and didn’t look back.
His commitment became official on National Signing Day. Golden, who ranks as the nation’s No. 114 overall player and No. 14 cornerback in America, joined the Fighting Irish family.
Golden is a superb athlete who will begin his Notre Dame career at the cornerback position, but with his supreme talent at safety, wide receiver and running back, there’s no telling where he’ll end up.

The Notre Dame commit’s junior season was sensational in all facets of the game. As an offensive weapon, he ran 205 times for 1,467 yards with 19 touchdowns and added 32 receptions for 394 yards with five more scores. He even threw a touchdown in 2023.
