Boston College RB commit Nolan James breaks down latest after Notre Dame offer
Notre Dame has been working behind the scenes for the past few weeks on a new class of 2025 running back prospect, and who that recruit is came to light on Friday.
The prospect is Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic’s Nolan James Jr., a Boston College commit for the past 10 months. The 5-11, 200-pounder told Blue & Gold Friday afternoon that the Irish staff first reached out to him about three or four weeks ago. Notre Dame has an offer on the table for him, and he’ll officially visit next weekend when the Fighting Irish host Florida State.
“They wanted to see if I was interested, and I told them I was definitely interested in the opportunity,” James said. “They offered me like two weeks ago, and I’ve been talking with Coach [Marcus] Freeman and Coach [Deland] McCullough every day now.

“I’m also talking with Coach [Chad] Bowden, and I’ve been on the phone multiple times with those guys. I really like who they all are as people and the relationship we’re starting to build.
“They’re pitching that they’re building the best running back room in the country. They’re up there right now. They want to keep it going with me and have me be the next guy there.”
Notre Dame hasn’t been recruiting James long, but he’s plenty familiar with what the Fighting Irish have to offer him. And it helps that if he needs insight from the perspective of a peer, he can walk down the DePaul Catholic halls and talk with Elijah Burress, an Irish 2025 wide receiver commit, about ND.
“Everything about Notre Dame is self-explanatory — from the educational standpoint to the football program,” he said. “Everything speaks for itself. It’s the best of both worlds. And Elijah is one of my closest friends, so I can ask him anything.
“From talking with Coach McCullough and Coach Freeman, I have a pretty good understanding of what the school is from what I already knew about the school from national recognition.”
