Notre Dame commit Peter Jones on bonding with other O-lineman, talks official visit
Malvern (Pa.) Prep’s Peter Jones had already made the trip from Pennsylvania to Notre Dame a half-dozen times before, but the official visit experience is always special and unique.
Jones, the No. 308 overall player and No. 24 interior offensive lineman in America per the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, committed to Notre Dame over Penn State last August and has been to South Bend on several occasions. His latest trek to campus was during the first weekend of June, and he was able to make the trip with his parents and three siblings for the 48-hour official visit.
“All of them being there to experience it made it even more real for me,” he said.
While recruits love Notre Dame’s campus and getting to see all the monuments, it’s the connections within the program that they rave about most.
“My focus was trying to spend a lot of time with recruits and the guys on the team currently,” Jones continued. “That was probably my favorite part of it. We have our schedule for the day, but at night, I got to spend time with the offensive linemen there.”
Jones was one of four offensive line recruits who took their Notre Dame official visit that weekend. Roswell (Ga.) High’s Anthonie Knapp, who committed to the Irish in late March, was on campus, as was Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern’s Styles Prescod, who would go on to pick the Irish a couple days after the trip ended. West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial’s Guerby Lambert, a huge Irish target in the 2024 class, made it to South Bend as well for the first time.
“We hit it off really well,” Jones said specifically of Knapp, who he met for the first time. “We got to see each other Thursday night, and that set us up for the rest of the weekend. It all went really well.
“None of us had met Guerby before, so we were trying to get a feel from him. We all hit it off really well. Guerby is a funny guy.”

Saline (Mich.) High quarterback and Notre Dame commit CJ Carr spent some time on campus that weekend as well.
“It was funny — the four of us [offensive linemen] were walking around with CJ, and someone joked that we were his security guards,” Jones said with a laugh.
Jones originally committed to Harry Hiestand, but he’s hit it off with new offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.
“He’s really good,” Jones said of Rudolph. “He was excited to have us all there together. There’s a good chance that we’ll all be there together. He was pumped for us to be there. We got to see his coaching style during the Lineman’s Challenge camp that Saturday.
“My relationship is growing with him at a rapid rate. He has a lot of energy, and I’m excited for these next few years.”
Jones is locked in with Notre Dame and plans to enroll at the university in January.
“I’m very excited,” he said.
