Notre Dame offered just under 100 class of 2027 prospects Monday for its Pot of Gold Day, and there could be more that trickle out the rest of the week as well. The Fighting Irish staff offered under the radar prospects, highly coveted recruits and everything in between.

There are no five-star prospects in the 2027 class yet according to the On3 Industry Ranking, but Notre Dame offered several recruits who surely will be in that conversation by the end of the 2027 cycle. Who are the highest ranked recruits (according to national ranking) Notre Dame offered Monday?

The Fighting Irish will always be a national brand and their recruiting footprint will stretch from coast to coast, but it’s more ideal to have your key targets closer to South Bend. And the nation’s No. 4 player and No. 2 EDGE according to the 2027 On3 Industry Ranking comes from Muskegon (Mich.) High, a couple hours north of South Bend. That recruit is Recarder Kitchen, who also has the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Cincinnati and others on his offer sheet.

Kitchen is ranked as a top-20 overall prospect by On3, 247 Sports and Rivals, but his offer list hasn’t quite exploded yet. Look for that to change this spring.

Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity Catholic’s David Jacobs earned his offer from Notre Dame on Pot of Gold Day, and this one was quite obviously coming, considering he already locked in a visit to see campus March 27. The 6-5.5, 215-pounder is the No. 7 player and No. 3 EDGE in America per the On3 Industry Ranking.

The competition for this elite pass rusher will be fierce. He’s already been to Georgia several times, and his godfather is former Miami head coach and player Mark Richt. Jacobs is a Georgia legacy, as his father, David Jacobs Sr., was a Georgia defensive lineman.

Notre Dame offered a handful of running back prospects Monday, including Desoto (Texas) High’s Myson Johnson-Cook, who checks in as the No. 8 prospect and No. 2 “athlete” in America. Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oregon, Penn State, Southern Cal, Tennessee and Texas are among Johnson-Cook’s other offers. New Irish running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider offered Johnson-Cook way back in October 2023 while coaching for the Nittany Lions.

Mississippi hasn’t exactly been a fertile recruiting ground for Notre Dame over the years, but assistant coach Al Washington is swinging for the fences in the 2027 class. He offered Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County’s Ben’Jarvius Shumaker, the No. 9 prospect and No. 1 defensive lineman in America according to the 2027 On3 Industry Ranking. Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are among his early offers.

Going back to the point of Washington swinging for the fences — four of the five players in this article are defensive linemen. Washington and Co. also offered Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson’s KJ Green, who checks in as the No. 11 player and No. 4 EDGE nationally per the 2027 On3 Industry Ranking. Green has the elites of the elite after him already — Georgia, Clemson, Oklahoma, Texas and others.
