WATCH: Notre Dame QB commit Kenny Minchey receives All-American Bowl honors
The All-American Bowl is honoring prospects who are committed to playing in the prestigious postseason all-star game as part of a virtual jersey presentation. Hendersonville (Tenn.) Pope John Paul II quarterback and Notre Dame commit Kenny Minchey had the spotlight this Wednesday, receiving his jersey.
Surrounded by his high school teammates, Minchey gave a message after unboxing his All-American Bowl jersey:
“Being an All-American means being the best version of myself every single day,” Minchey said, as seen in the video below. “I take great pride in being honored. I want to thank God, my parents and my school for pushing me.”
Minchey is one of seven players committed to the Irish who were selected to play in the All-American Bowl. The other six are Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean linebacker Drayk Bowen, Folsom (Calif.) High wide receiver Rico Flores Jr., Irvington (N.J.) High safety Adon Shuler, Mentor (Ohio) High defensive lineman Brenan Vernon, Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman offensive tackle Charles Jagusah and Houston The Kinkaid School cornerback Micah Bell.

Having been selected to play in the 23rd edition of the All-American Bowl, the future Irish players will participate in the annual East versus West matchup inside the Alamodome in San Antonio on Jan. 7, 2023. The Bowl will be nationally televised, live on NBC and Peacock, and will feature 100 of the nation’s high school football players.

Among the 22 recruits Notre Dame signed last December for the 2022 cycle, 16 of them played or were invited to one of the three major postseason all-star games: the All-American Bowl, the Under Armour All-America Game and the Polynesian Bowl. The 2023 cycle will be another year with a handful of appearances from Notre Dame signees.
