2024 in-state offensive lineman Styles Prescod commits to Notre Dame
Notre Dame has gone down to Fishers, Indiana, and landed its first in-state recruit of the 2024 cycle. On Tuesday, Hamilton Southeastern High School interior offensive lineman Styles Prescod announced his verbal commitment in favor of the Fighting Irish.
The 6-foot-5 ½, 270-pound Prescod is Notre Dame’s third offensive line commit in the 2024 recruiting cycle and second under Joe Rudolph. On March 29, Notre Dame’s first-year O-line coach, Rudolph, accepted a commitment from four-star interior offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp of Roswell (Ga.) High.
Last August, four-star interior offensive lineman Peter Jones shut down his recruitment in favor of the Irish while Harry Hiestand was the offensive line coach. However, Hiestand, who offered Prescod a scholarship in January, unexpectedly announced his retirement on Feb. 12.
Presocd initially favored the Irish while Hiestand was the Irish position coach. However, after he stepped away from the coaching ranks, it resulted in some uncertainty surrounding his Notre Dame recruitment.
Rudolph seemingly put that uncertainty to rest during the spring.
Prescod has been to South Bend three times over the last six weeks. He most recently officially visited Notre Dame last Friday through Saturday. Before his paid trip to campus, he visited for the Blue-Gold Game on April 22 and for spring practice on April 15.
Prescod’s been on Notre Dame’s radar since September
The Irish first hosted him during the California game on Sept. 17. He returned to campus for Notre Dame’s junior day on Jan. 14, the same day he picked up his offer.
Prescod reported 20 Power Five scholarship offers. Before committing to Notre Dame, he visited Iowa, Purdue, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Louisville, Michigan, Wisconsin, Alabama and Michigan State. The Spartans did not offer him a scholarship.

Prescod had an official visit scheduled to Colorado for later this month. But he is not expected to take it after locking in his pledge with the Irish. Notre Dame has a no opposing official visit policy for its verbal commits, which results in an automatic decommitment from the class if violated.
The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — considers Prescod a three-star recruit and No. 613 player, No. 44 at his position and No. 6 in Indiana.
On3 ranks Prescod as the No. 189 overall player, No. 10 interior offensive lineman and No. 2 prospect in Indiana. He is also a four-star recruit, according to On3.
Prescod’s On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $17,500.
When he signs with Notre Dame, he will be the first Indiana offensive lineman to join the program since the Irish added two of them, Ashton Craig and Joey Tanona, in 2022.
Tanona medically retired last year. Former Irish O-linemen Blake Fisher (2021), Nick Martin (2011), Zack Martin (2009) and Braxston Cave (2008) are also from the Hoosier State.
