2024 three-star safety Taebron Bennie-Powell — also known as “BP” — will reveal his college choice six days after participating in Notre Dame’s Evaluation Camp I. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Bennie-Powell will lock in his decision come Wednesday, he announced on Twitter on Monday.

The Fighting Irish offered West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West’s Bennie-Powell following his performance at their first Evaluation Camp last Thursday. During it, he ran a 4.60-second 40-yard dash and clocked a 4.3-second shuttle time.

“It was a lovely feeling,” Bennie-Powell told Blue & Gold when describing the moment Notre Dame offered. “It was a great feeling.”

Bennie-Powell initially put himself on Notre Dame’s radar by attending the Marshall game on Sept. 10. Since then, he’s picked up Power Five scholarship offers from Duke, Kentucky, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. He’s also visited Cincinnati, Illinois and Ohio State but has not received offers from those schools.

As a junior, Bennie-Powell primarily played outside linebacker and had 36 total tackles (26 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He will transition to strong safety this season.

Bennie-Powell played on the same high school team as 2023 four-star safety recruits Malik Hartford and Ben Minich, who reported Irish offers. Minich ended up accepting his and signed with Notre Dame last December. Hartford ended up with Ohio State.

The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — evaluates Bennie-Powell as the No. 1,196 overall player, No. 68 athlete and No. 50 prospect in Ohio. He has an 84.89 rating.

An On3 Recruiting Insider prediction filed by Blue & Gold’s Mike Singer carries much of that weight. Bennie-Powell has also visited Notre Dame twice, more than any other school that has offered him.

On May 1, the Irish received a verbal commitment from Chandler (Ariz.) High safety Kenendy Urlacher. The 6-1, 180-pound Urlacher is a three-star recruit and the No. 595 overall player, No. 60 safety and No. 12 prospect in Arizona, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Notre Dame is also trending in the On3 RPM for Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side High four-star safety Tae Johnson. The 6-3, 170-pound Johnson will make his commitment public on Saturday. He is the No. 164 overall player, No. 5 athlete and No. 3 prospect in Indiana, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
