Newsstand: Notre Dame showing interest in transfer portal wide receiver
BYU wide receiver Kody Epps entered the transfer portal Sunday, and according to On3’s Pete Nakos, the 5-11, 187-pounder has received much interest, which includes Notre Dame.
Per Nakos’ report, Epps has picked up scholarship offers from Auburn, Colorado, Miami and Ole Miss. And the likes of Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia Tech have shown interest in Epps.
He is an attractive option for many teams, especially with three years of eligibility remaining, according to Nakos. He took a medical redshirt for the 2021 season after pulling in five receptions for 47 yards during the 2020 COVID-shortened season.
Despite missing five games of his 2022 season with injury, Epps finished the season with the team’s second-most receptions, hauling in 39 passes for 459 yards and six touchdowns at 11.8 yards per grab and 57.4 yards per game.

Coming out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei in the 2020 class, Epps ranked as the nation’s No. 699 overall prospect and No. 121 wide receiver per the On3 Industry Ranking.
Notre Dame had a transfer wide receiver addition back in December when former Virginia Tech pass catcher Kaleb Smith announced that he’d be taking his talents to South Bend. However, Smith announced April 15 that he would be retiring from football. The Irish also lost a receiver to the transfer portal in Lorenzo Styles Jr., who has since committed to Ohio State.
