On Friday afternoon, news broke that Notre Dame general manager Chad Bowden would be leaving his post in South Bend to take the same position at USC.

According to Football Scoop, Bowden was making in the $275,000-$300,00 range, and his new salary will be at least $1 million for the Trojans, a deal that is believed to make him the highest paid general manager in college football.

Bowden just completed his fourth season at Notre Dame, first as the program’s general manager. He previously served as director of recruiting during the 2022 and 2023 seasons before earning a promotion to assistant athletic director for player personnel in March. Over the summer, his title was changed to general manager after Michigan tried to poach him for a front office position.

In the video below, Blue & Gold‘s Mike Singer and Tim Hyde react to the news.
