Last week, Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South wide receiver and Notre Dame signee Cam Williams spent the week in San Antonio, Texas for the All-American Bowl.

He shared his thoughts and experiences of taking part in the prestigious postseason all-star game week with Blue & Gold in a journal article that published every other day, and after arriving back home in Illinois, he recapped his week.

Williams on his favorite experience during the week: “It would probably be the first couple practices I was able to partake in, considering I didn’t have many. It was just nice to be playing the game I love with dudes who love the game like I do as well.”

On spending time with Bryce Young, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and Kedren Young at the AA Bowl and then enrolling at ND with them this weekend: “Yeah it was nice because we said our goodbyes, and it hit us that we are gonna be permanently at school together. I’d say we did get to know each other a bit more this week.”

On his minor knee injury that held him out of the All-American Bowl and final two practice: “My knee is feeling better each day. I’m sure I’ll be back doing stuff 100 percent in no time.”

On arriving at Notre Dame this weekend to begin his Fighting Irish career: “I am super pumped. I’ve told everyone that I’ve been waiting for this day for way too long now. I just can’t wait to get to work and experience the new environment.”

On Dec. 20, Williams, who ranks as the nation’s No. 29 player and No. 9 wide receiver per the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, went from a commit of 18 months to a Fighting Irish signee. Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman was excited to talk about Williams during his signing day press conference.

“The thing that attracted us to Cam was his speed,” said Freeman. “When we’ve said — ‘Hey, we need to address speed’ — we want to continue to enhance our speed on the outside on both sides of the ball. That was a thing with Cam.”

“We saw him multiple times run 4.4s. We had him in camp. We had him live. He is a tremendous player that’s from Chicago. We have to make sure that the best players in Chicago that fit this place continue to come to Notre Dame. That was the case with Cam.”
