Tim Hyde on the mid-spring projected starting offensive line
In an article Wednesday morning at Blue & Gold, beat writer Tyler Horka gave a projected depth chart for the offensive based on what the media has seen so far. Make sure to read the full article.
Singer and Hyde discussed Horka’s projected offensive line starting group that consisted of (from left to right): Joe Alt, Billy Schrauth, Zeke Correll, Andrew Kristofic and Blake Fisher. Hyde gave his reaction to that potential starting lineup:
“I’m excited because that’s the five I was hoping for when you looked at a group of five. The [tackles] we already knew about. Zeke has started games three straight seasons; you can’t forget that. And he’s comfortable, heading into his second-straight season at center. I think that’s a positive.
“The guards are the biggie and the question marks at Notre Dame. Carmody has been in the starting role, but the other day, it was Billy Schrauth. That was interesting to see. Is Billy beating him out? Carmody only weighs 280 pounds; he looks small.
“It’s quite interesting at guard. Is Billy going to wrap that up? And Kristofic is the crusty veteran. He started a handful of games in 2021 next to Joe Alt. And the other thing is that they have Billy next to Alt. Are they going with the young guy next to Alt, because Alt does have a full year on Fisher. I found that interesting.”
