Newsstand: Notre Dame football to kick off spring practice this week

After only an eight-week lay-off, the Notre Dame football program returns to the practice field this week.
The Fighting Irish are set to kick off spring practice Tuesday. It will be the first time Marcus Freeman’s team is together on the field with the coaching staff in an official capacity since facing Ohio State in the national championship game on Jan. 20.
This spring, Freeman’s fourth at the helm of the program, will be noticeably different from previous years. Because Notre Dame’s 16-game season lasted over 20 weeks, 10 players will be limited to individual participation plans, and another six will have modified activity due to injury. Nine are out completely. That list is available here.
Fans will get their first look at the 2025 Irish on April 12. That day, they will hold an intrasquad “Blue vs. Gold” jersey scrimmage at Notre Dame Stadium. The 94th edition of the annual spring game will be at 2 p.m. ET.
In 167 days, the Irish will kick off the 2025 regular season in Coral Gables, Fla., against Miami (Florida). Notre Dame’s home opener is slated two weeks later on Sept. 13 against Texas A&M.
