Notre Dame starting right tackle Blake Fisher declares for 2024 NFL Draft
Notre Dame football will be on the lookout for a new starting right tackle next football season. Fighting Irish junior offensive lineman Blake Fisher declared for the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday. Fisher has also chosen to opt out of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
The 6-foot-6, 312-pound Fisher announced his decision to move on from Notre Dame after three seasons with the football program. He started and played in 27 games — all but one of them were at right tackle.
“First let me start by thanking God for putting me in this position and giving me the opportunity to pursue my dreams,” Fisher said in a statement on social media. “I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to attend one of the best universities in the world.
“To my support system throughout my time at Notre Dame, you’ve been nothing short of amazing — to my mom, dad, coaches, teammates, professors, custodial staff, and everyone in between that has made an impact on my life: Thank you.
“The opportunity to play for Notre Dame and be a part of this community has been unbelievable, and I am grateful for every moment. Saturdays in South Bend will always have a special place in my heart and I will cherish them forever!
“After a lot of prayer and thought with my family, I have made the decision to opt out of the bowl game and officially declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. I am so excited for this next opportunity and will continue to strive to make the Fighting Irish proud.”
The top 55 four-star recruit from Avon (Ind.) High began his Irish career as a left tackle. He started the first game of the 2021 season and played 37 snaps. However, Fisher tore his meniscus in the season opener against Florida State on Sept. 5, 2021.
Fisher rehabbed his way back for that season’s Fiesta Bowl game on Jan. 1, 2022. He debuted at right tackle and started the next 25 games in that position.
