Three days after losing the national championship game, the Notre Dame football program learned when it will kick off the 2025 season. On Thursday, the ACC announced that the Fighting Irish will face Miami (FL) at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will be a standalone game.

That game will mark the start of the 2025 season and mark Notre Dame’s return to the same venue where it defeated Penn State in the Orange Bowl on Feb. 9. With that win, the Irish advanced to the College Football Playoff final.

The last time the Irish faced the Hurricanes there, Coach Brian Kelly suffered one of the worst marquee losses as Notre Dame coach. Miami won 41-8. Still, the Irish hold a 17-8-1 record against the Hurricanes. They have not beaten them in Florida since 1977.
