Notre Dame (7-3) dropped 10 spots to the No. 22 college football team in the country in the Week 11 Associated Press Poll on Sunday. Its demotion comes after dropping a 31-23 loss at unranked Clemson (5-4) on Saturday. The Tigers received one vote in the AP Poll.

The Irish also checked in at No. 22 in the Coaches Poll with 264 points. That’s down 10 spots from their No. 12 ranking last week.  Last Tuesday, Notre Dame debuted as the No. 15 team in the College Football Playoff 2023 rankings. Updated CFP rankings will be released every Tuesday until conference championship weekend.

Last week, the Irish were No. 12 in the AP Poll, the highest among two-loss teams. Notre Dame opened the season at No. 13. The highest it ranked during the 2023 campaign was No. 9 in Week 4. The Irish lost to then-No. 6 Ohio State on Sept. 23. The Buckeyes are now No. 3 in the AP Poll. OSU entered the week as the No. 1 team according to the first CFP rankings.

Notre Dame’s final two regular season games come against Wake Forest at home on Nov. 19 and on the road against Stanford on Nov. 25. Both teams are unranked in the coaches and Associated Press polls. The Irish have their second bye of the season this week.

Notre Dame has lost two of its last three Atlantic Coast Conference outings (Clemson, 31-23; Louisville, 33-20) after winning 30 consecutive regular-season games against ACC foes. The last time Notre Dame lost a regular-season game versus an ACC opponent was against Virginia Tech, 34-31, on Nov. 19, 2016, at Notre Dame Stadium.

The Irish are 5-0 all-time against Wake Forest and  22-14-0 versus Stanford. Notre Dame fell to the Cardinal, 16-14, in South Bend last season. Stanford will join the ACC in August 2024.

The Irish are already eligible for a bowl game by achieving six wins. They beat South Carolina in the Gator Bowl last December. That was coach Marcus Freeman’s first bowl game victory as a head coach. However, Saturday’s loss at Clemson erased Notre Dame’s New Year’s Six bowl aspirations.
