After four seasons at Notre Dame, wide receiver Deion Colzie has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. He was one year of eligibility left to use.

This past season for the Fighting Irish, Colzie played in all 16 games, hauling in 5 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown, which came against Florida State. He totaled 132 snaps on the season; his single-game high was 26 in a blowout victory for the Irish against Purdue.

Colzie found a role in Notre Dame’s short-yardage quarterback run package, primarily playing in the slot.

Colzie played in four regular season games and the Sun Bowl for the 2023 season, which he used for his redshirt year. A knee injury limited him for his junior season and he had just 3 receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown.

The 6-4, 211-pounder from McDonough, Ga. had his best season in 2022 when he caught nine passes for 192 yards and his first touchdown. And as a freshman, Colzie posted 4 receptions for 67 yards.

Colzie was a decorated recruit out of Athens (Ga.) Academy, ranking as the No. 101 overall player and No. 17 wide receiver in America according to the 2021 On3 Industry Ranking. He committed to Notre Dame during his junior season but backed off his pledge. He considered Florida, Georgia and Tennessee but later recommitted to the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame has the following wide receivers on scholarship for the 2025 season: Malachi Fields, Will Pauling, Jaden Greathouse, Jordan Faison, KK Smith, Cam Williams, Micah Gilbert, Logan Saldate, Elijah Buress, Jerome Bettis Jr. and Scrap Richardson.

Colzie’s transfer portal announcement

First and foremost I give all honor, praise, and glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It’s because of His grace and mercy that I am who I am today.

Thank you to my family who has supported and prayed for me throughout this entire journey.

Thank you to the entire Notre Dame family and all who have supported me during this journey. This has been an experience of a lifetime and I am grateful for the brotherhood that has been forged through this process. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s allowed me to learn more about who I am and who I aspire to be.

I am especially grateful to Coach Freeman, Coach Brown, and all who have poured into my life to this point, and I will never forget the lessons I have learned. To my brothers in arms, THANK YOU for believing in me. It has been an honor to work side by side with each of you and I have cherished every moment.

I have given my all to the University of Notre Dame and it’s now time for me to enter the next phase of my journey. I am officially entering the transfer portal as a graduate.

Love Thee,
Deion Colzie
