How Notre Dame will take ‘Irish wear green’ to a new level for Ohio State game
Saturday night, the Irish wear green. Notre Dame players will don green jerseys and pants. The fans will come glad in green attire too. And when they arrive at Notre Dame Stadium, a light-up green LED wristband will be waiting for them at every seat.
The wristbands, sponsored by the Rockne Athletics Fund, are programmed according to seat number and will light up in different patterns throughout the game. The Rockne Athletics Fund is a group of Notre Dame fans, family and alumni who join in the shared vision of providing the best academic and athletic opportunities for Notre Dame student-athletes.
Such wristbands have become popular at concerts and other sporting venues such as NHL arenas. The following wristband instructions were released by the university:
- ONLY TAKE ONE There will be one LED Wristband per seat for everyone in the stadium to enjoy. Please be considerate of your neighbors, and only take one.
- BE READY When instructed by the public announcer, be sure you’re in your seat and proudly displaying your LED Wristband! Special light shows will occur when the team runs out and throughout the game.
- DON’T TRADE Your unique wristband has been programmed to light up in your section/row when the time comes. Don’t swap your wristband with friends or family seated in other locations throughout the stadium. This will help you enjoy the full effect.
