According to Fan Duel Sportsbook, the No. 7 seed Fighting Irish are a 7.5-point favorite against the No. 10 seed Hoosiers in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff Game. Notre Dame and Indiana will kick off the tournament on Friday, Dec. 20, at 8 p.m. ET in South Bend. ESPN will have television coverage.

The Irish are among the best teams in the nation in covering the spread this season, doing so at an 81.8% clip. The only better teams are Arizona State and Marshall, who covered the spread in 84.6% of their games. The Sun Devils made the College Football Playoff as the Big 12 champion and are the No. 4 seed.

Notre Dame holds a 9-2-1 record against the spread in 2024, with its only two losses against it being an outright one against Northern Illinois and a 28-3 win over Miami. The Irish were a 27.5-point favorite against the Red Hawks. Notre Dame’s 31-24 victory against Louisville was a push.

The Hoosiers are similarly successful against the spread this season, covering 75% of their games. That mark is tied for fifth in the country, only behind Arizona State, Marshall, Minnesota and Notre Dame.

So, Indiana has a 9-3 record against the spread. Its three losses against the spread were in a 20-15 win against Michigan (-14.5), a 38-15 loss to Ohio State (+10.5) and its 31-7 season-opening victory over  Florida International (-24.5).
