For the second time in Notre Dame men’s track and field history, a Fighting Irish athlete won the 10K race at the NCAA Championships. Dylan Jacobs took home the individual title with a time of 28:12.32 in Eugene, Ore., Wednesday night.

Jacobs became the third overall Irish runner to earn the 10K title. Ryan Shay won in 2001, and Molly Seidel was victorious in 2015. Jacobs came from behind to secure his win. He passed Northern Arizona’s Abdihamid Nur during a final lap in which he ran a staggering split of 55.45.

Notre Dame has now won 17 men’s outdoor individual titles. Jacobs’ was the first since Yared Naguse in 2019.

Michael Mayer is the No. 1 tight end prospect eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft per Pro Football Focus. Is anyone surprised? Mayer has caught 113 passes for 1,290 yards and nine touchdowns in his first two collegiate seasons. He set a Notre Dame single-season record for tight ends with seven touchdown receptions last season.

There’s got to be a pot of gold under that rainbow, right?!

A former Tennessee football player whose career was cut short after paralyzing his right arm, Inky Johnson, spoke to the Fighting Irish for motivational purposes recently.

Notre Dame quote of the day
