The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the five finalists for the 2025 Nancy Lieberman Award, which is given annually to the best point guard in women’s college basketball. Notre Dame’s Olivia Miles was one of the finalists.

Georgia Amoore of the Kentucky Wildcats, Rori Harmon of the Texas Longhorns, Kiki Rice of the UCLA Bruins and Paige Bueckers of the UConn Huskies were the other four finalists.

To be considered for this prestigious award, candidates must exhibit the floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, according to the basketball hall of fame’s website.

Miles, who won ACC Player of the Week honors twice this season (Nov. 11 & Dec. 30), has been superb in her fifth year at Notre Dame. She’s averaging 16.5 points, 5.9 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game this season. Miles missed all of the 23-24 season as she rehabbed a knee injury suffered in February 2023.

Niele Ivey‘s Fighting Irish hit a rough patch at the end of February, dropping contests against NC State and Florida State, but her group kicked back into gear over the weekend with a 72-59 triumph over Louisville. Miles posted 15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in that contest.

Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting starting on Friday, March 7, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.

Skylar Diggins won the award as a Notre Dame standout in the 2012-13 season.

Quote of the day

“Just making sure that I do a great job of preparing them defensively. Defensive minded. Trying to help them through frustration and trying to help them as much as I can either defensively or what we need to change up, adjustments and going along with whatever the game dictates. That’s what I feel like I learned. When teams go on runs, I can see they might need a timeout maybe a little bit sooner. Adjustment, whatever that case may be. Reading into more, I feel like you learn a lot what this group needs. Or offensively scheming. Just making sure I’m making the right adjustments for them.”
