Newsstand: Notre Dame football begins fall camp with practice No. 1 today
The wait is over. This morning, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take a huge step toward the 2024 season with practice No. 1 of fall camp.
This is head coach Marcus Freeman’s third time conducting a fall camp, and Irish fans far and wide are hoping the third time is the charm. The Irish went 9-4 in Freeman’s first season and 10-3 in his second. The third yields the most advantageous schedule yet and an opportunity to punch a ticket to an expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.
So much of what happens between now and the beginning of the playoff in mid-December will hinge on what takes place in the Irish Athletics Center and the adjacent LaBar Football Practice Fields in the next month. Week-to-week game-planning and in-game execution is the ultimate difference-maker. But laying a foundation in fall camp is of the utmost important as well.
Blue & Gold will be able to view Wednesday morning’s practice in its entirety. Check back in with BlueandGold.com throughout the day for coverage of the session and a recap of Freeman’s press conference, which takes place at the conclusion of practice.
