Notre Dame football to host Boise State in South Bend in 2025
For the first time ever, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Boise State Broncos will square off in football on Oct. 4, 2025. Notre Dame announced the news in a press release Tuesday afternoon.
It’ll mark the second consecutive season Notre Dame goes against an opponent for the first time ever. The Irish are hosting Northern Illinois this fall. After the matchups against the Huskies and Broncos, the Irish will have faced 90 of 134 FBS teams.
Boise State went 8-6 as a member of the Mountain West Conference last season. That included a 6-2 conference record for the Broncos with an appearance in the 2023 LA Bowl against the UCLA Bruins. Boise State lost, 35-22.

Boise State is coached by 35-year-old Spencer Danielson. He took over as the program’s interim head coach when Andy Avalos was fired in November. On Dec. 3, the Solana Beach, Calif., native was promoted to head coach, the 12th in program history. He’s been at Boise State since he arrived there as a graduate assistant in 2017.
Boise State is the 11th penciled-in opponent for Notre Dame in 2025. The Irish will play Texas A&M, Purdue, Boise State, USC, Navy, NC State and Syracuse at home in South Bend. Head coach Marcus Freeman‘s team will go on the road to Arkansas, Boston College, Miami, and Pittsburgh.

The dates for the games against the Aggies (Sept. 13), Boilermakers (Sept. 20), Arkansas (Sept. 27), Broncos (Oct. 4), Trojans (Oct. 18) and Midshipmen (Nov. 8) are set. All others are to be announced.
Freeman embarks on his third season as Notre Dame’s head coach against Texas A&M on Aug. 31. The Irish are making their second-ever trip to College Station and first since 2001. Notre Dame holds an edge of 3-2 in the all-time series between the Irish and Aggies.
ESPN’s FPI revealed Monday that Notre Dame has a 15.8 percent chance to go undefeated in the regular season, the best odds of doing so in the FBS. The Irish’s projected win-loss record via the computer-generated model is 10.1-1.9.
It’s a tough start to Freeman’s third year having to make a trip to Kyle Field, but all in all Notre Dame has a serious shot of qualifying for the first 12-team field in College Football Playoff history. The same will likely be the case when the Irish host the Broncos next year.
