Notre Dame has been a springboard for young coaches make their way up the career ladder of late. Last week, graduate assistant James Laurinaitis went back to his alma mater, Ohio State. This week, Jeremy Larkin is headed to Youngstown State to become the running backs coach there according to John Brice of FootballScoop.

Per Brice, Larkin spent the past season as an analyst for the Fighting Irish. He frequently helped Irish director of recruiting Chad Bowden, and he helped the on-field coaching staff devise weekly game plans. He worked closely with running backs coach Deland McCullough.

Lark was a running back for the Northwestern Wildcats. He scored 10 rushing touchdowns in his career; five in 2017 and five more in 2018. He amassed over 1,000 yards from scrimmage, too; 849 on the ground and 242 through the air on 30 catches. He started his career as a graduate assistant for his alma mater before making his way to South Bend.

If Laurinaitis getting nabbed by the Buckeyes and Larkin earning an on-field position for a four-time FCS national champion is any indication, the college football community will continue to look to South Bend to bolster coaching staffs across America.
