Two possible kickoff times announced for Notre Dame football vs. Clemson on Nov. 4
Two possible kickoff times for Notre Dame’s first trip to Clemson since 2015 and the Fighting Irish’s third-ever game against the Tigers in Death Valley were set Monday morning. The Irish and Tigers will get going at either Noon or 3:30 p.m. ET on Nov. 4.
No. 14 Notre Dame (6-2) hosts Pitt (2-5) this weekend. Clemson (4-3) is on the road at NC State (4-3). The Irish beat the Wolfpack 45-24 on Sept. 9. The Tigers are coming off a 28-20 double-overtime loss at Miami, while the Irish just had a bye week.
Before the season started, Clemson was circled on Notre Dame’s schedule as one of the “big three” along with Ohio State and USC. As it stands, when the season is over, it’s likely Duke and Louisville will have ended up being bigger games than the one against the Tigers. If Clemson loses one more game, the Tigers will have four losses in one season for the first time since 2011.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney hasn’t exactly been a media darling during his roughest stretch in over a decade. On the Monday before the loss to Miami, Swinney implied that he wouldn’t be sad to see some Clemson fans stop rooting for his team.
“If you don’t go undefeated, people say you’re losers, that you’re terrible,” Swinney said. “It’s such a terrible mindset. And honestly, maybe we need to lose a few games and lighten up the bandwagon. Sometimes, the bandwagon can get a little too full.”

After the game, he was asked if Clemson has a sports psychiatrist to help players get through a tough season. He said the team does have one, but “he’s probably on suicide watch right now.”
Notre Dame, meanwhile, was on the verge of letting its season spiral out of control a couple of weeks ago. The Irish emphatically kept things on track with a 48-20 dismantling of rival USC. A 10-win season is in the cards for head coach Marcus Freeman in his second season as Notre Dame’s head coach.
To get there before the bowl game, Notre Dame needs to beat Clemson. Even in the middle of whatever is going on there, it’s not easy to take down the Tigers in Death Valley. Notre Dame has not done it since 1977. Clemson has only two home losses since 2017, but both of those have come in the last calendar year. The Irish also thumped the Tigers 35-14 in South Bend last November.
