Notre Dame sophomore running back Audric Estime said it Tuesday: The Fighting Irish are “rolling” right now. The opportunity to extend a what’s currently a three-game winning streak comes Saturday at 12 p.m. ET when the No. 20 Irish (6-3) take on Navy (3-6) at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Follow along below for live updates of head coach Marcus Freeman‘s weekly Thursday press conference, which is always his last opportunity to speak to the media before kickoff.

Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman Nov. 10 press conference live updates

• Freeman is first asked about scout team players Chase Ketterer and Justin Fisher as valuable pieces in getting ready to play Navy. Both were a part of the triple-option offense in high school. He says they have been awesome in getting the Irish ready.

• Safety Brandon Joseph is doubtful with an ankle sprain. Matt Salerno will return punts if Joseph can’t go.

• Freeman says there hasn’t been any faith lost in Lorenzo Styles after five drops from the sophomore wide receiver this season. He compares it to not losing faith in running back Audric Estime after three lost fumbles in a stretch of four games.

• Freeman says this game means a lot to him given that it is against a service academy, and his father is an Air Force veteran. He says this game helps him see the bigger picture. There is more to it than just Notre Dame football.

• Freeman says the Notre Dame offense can’t be out of control because the defensive linemen move around and shift a lot. There will be a lot of different looks. This is a game about discipline for the Irish offense.

• Freeman: “Our team understands we are on a destination for improvement. … The win vs. Clemson cannot be a destination point for this football team.”

• Freeman still remembers the exact number of rushing yards his Cincinnati defense gave up to the Navy offense in 2017. It was 569. “That will be a number that I will never forget.” He says that game is an example of coaches always have to learn and evolve and get better. If not, someone else is doing those things, and you will lose again.

• Freeman says graduate student defensive end Justin Ademilola is healthy and should be ready to go after getting banged up late vs. Clemson.

• Freeman commends senior defensive end Nana Osafo-Mensah for the way he has improved this season. It has been showing up on Saturdays.

• Freeman drops an “endless urgency.” That might make for a good T-shirt down the line.

• Freeman says his job as a head coach is to find ways to create that sense of urgency so that his players don’t get complacent.

• Freeman says graduate student wide receiver Joe Wilkins Jr.‘s decision was his own. “His mind was made up.” Freeman says Wilkins Jr. worked tirelessly, but the coaching staff did not feel he was one of the guys that would give Notre Dame the best opportunity to have success. “Love Joe, love what he’s done for this program and wish him all the best.”
