Notes on the Notre Dame transfer additions

• Going off last year’s roster, Hartman is an eighth of an inch taller than Notre Dame junior quarterback Tyler Buchner and seven pounds lighter. Notre Dame has not updated height and weight information for returning players.

• Ohio State transfer Jean-Baptiste is going to be called upon to be a force in the pass-rushing game for Notre Dame. He is a half inch shorter and 19 pounders lighter than what all-time Irish sacks leader Isaiah Foskey was listed at last year.

• If Notre Dame is going to want Harper to play the role of departed defensive back TaRiq Bracy, he’s going to be a mirror image of him size-wise. Bracy was listed at 5-10 1/8 and 185 pounds last year. Harper, an Oklahoma State transfer, is 7/8 of an inch taller and five pounds lighter.

• At 222 pounds, Smith is heavier than any wide receiver Notre Dame had on the 2022 roster.

Notes on the Notre Dame early enrollees

• The wide receivers provide a wide-range of body types, giving Notre Dame plenty of options with which to work with them. Greathouse already being 208 pounds gives the Irish an opportunity to bulk him up even further to make him a formidable downfield threat.

• The defensive backs come in needing to make some strides in the weight room. Add Ausberry to that designation as a 200-pound linebacker. Zinter and Bowen are much closer to being college-weight ready. So is Houstan for the position he plays. He’d have been the sixth heaviest defensive lineman on the 2022 roster.

• Pendleton is already a behemoth of an offensive lineman. New Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph is going to have fun grooming him into a starting-caliber player over the years.
