Notre Dame hasn’t beaten Clemson on the road since 1977. This is only the third time the Fighting Irish have ever played the Tigers at what is deemed Death Valley, a dueling nickname for Clemson’s stadium and that of the LSU Tigers.

ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) thinks the Irish have a good chance to survive with a win Saturday at noon ET. No. 15 Notre Dame (7-2) has a 65.7 percent chance of beating Clemson (4-4) per the FPI. The Irish are favored by a field goal according to most Las Vegas sports books.

A win would give the Irish their third in the last four games against Clemson. It was the Tigers who began the all-time series between these two programs with three victories in the first four. The Irish also have a chance to tie the Tigers at three wins apiece since the series resumed in 2015 after last playing in 1979.

Quote of the day

“Everybody’s stepping up, and the run game that we’ve established, that really helps me be able to get through progressions. And obviously up front, we’ve got some of the best guys in the country. A lot of the throws last weekend we’re against little to no pressure, and that makes my life really easy and really comfortable as a quarterback to sit back there and go through progressions and what not.”
