Notre Dame is officially in a College Football Playoff drought of sorts. After qualifying for the CFP twice in three years in 2018 and 2020, the Fighting Irish have not make it through to the final four in each of the last two seasons. It’s the first non-playoff two-year stretch for the program since 2016-17.

Unsurprisingly, the Irish are not one of the top four favorites to reach the CFP according to an odds list released by DraftKings this week. They are knocking on the door, though. They checked in as the team with the 11th best odds to make the playoff. They’ll likely begin the season somewhere just outside the top 10 in the polls, so the number makes sense.

Here are the top 19 teams on the list from DraftKings.

Georgia is the two-time reigning national champion. The Bulldogs beat Ohio State in last year’s semifinals and Michigan in the 2021 semifinals. They knocked off Alabama in the 2021 national championship. Those four teams seem to be a step ahead of the rest. USC can enter that conversation if Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams gets some help from his defense.

Recruiting season isn’t restricted to football, either. Niele Ivey is ready.

Quote of the day

“I really like Notre Dame, actually. My geometry teacher graduated from there. She’s told me a lot about being a student there. My stepdad went to Michigan, but he also liked Notre Dame. It was that sign that Notre Dame was always there. To be able to play in front of Touchdown Jesus would be very exciting. So it’s something that I could see myself doing in the future. It’s a place that I want to see.”
