Newsstand: ESPN reveals Notre Dame football’s biggest strength entering the 2024 season

With spring ball for the Notre Dame football team kicking off this week, the start of the 2024 college football season is slowly creeping into the picture. And ESPN has started to preview it by discussing the biggest strengths of college football’s top 25 teams.
According to David Hale, the Fighting Irish — considered the No. 5 team in the country per ESPN — can call their secondary the strongest part of the program entering 2024.
“There’s a good case to be made that Notre Dame enters 2024 with the nation’s best secondary,” Hale said. “Safety Xavier Watts returns after an All-America season in which he picked off seven passes.
“He’ll be surrounded by veteran corner Benjamin Morrison and an intriguing transfer from Northwestern, Rod Heard II, whose versatility should allow him to fit anywhere there’s a need. Arizona State transfer Jordan Clark and junior Jaden Mickey have ample upside, too.”
The Irish kick off spring practice on Thursday and the 2024 season against Texas A&M Aug 31.
