Notre Dame knows when it will take the field this Saturday against Syracuse. The Fighting Irish (4-3) and the Orange (6-1) will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on ABC.

The game time and television information came out late Saturday/early Sunday morning after the conclusion of Week 8’s results. Notre Dame beat UNLV at home in South Bend, 44-21, to get back on track after losing to Stanford the previous week, 16-14. Syracuse nearly beat No. 5 Clemson on the road, but the Orange ultimately fell, 27-21, in their first defeat of the fall.

Syracuse was ranked No. 14 in the country prior to the loss to the Tigers. The Orange will assuredly still be ranked in both polls when they drops Sunday afternoon after a valiant road effort against a top-five team. Notre Dame has not been ranked since starting the season 0-2 with losses at Ohio State and at home vs. Marshall.

This will be the third time Notre Dame plays a ranked opponent at the time of kickoff this season. The Irish lost 21-10 to the then-No. 2 Buckeyes in the season opener and beat then-No. 16 BYU 28-10 in the Shamrock Series game in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.

Syracuse is enacting an “orange-out” at the JMA Dome for the Notre Dame game. Fans attending are being asked to dress in all orange. The Irish last played at Syracuse in 2016, a 50-33 victory for the blue and gold visitors. Syracuse has not beaten Notre Dame since 2008, a 24-23 win for the Orange in South Bend. The Irish are 7-3 all-time against Syracuse and have won the previous four meetings.

The Irish last played a true road game on Sept. 24 at North Carolina. Head coach Marcus Freeman‘s team put forth its best offensive outing of the season in a 45-32 victory over a Tar Heels team that has not lost since. The Irish offense has regressed since then. It will have its hands full against a Syracuse defense that ranks No. 13 in the FBS in yards allowed per game (294.7).
