Notre Dame revealed the green jerseys it will wear versus Ohio State. And when the Fighting Irish said green, they really meant green.

The program unveiled the 2023 edition of its green jerseys Monday morning, and they are literally green from head to toe. The uniforms was released in a fun, quirky social media video starring Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, quarterback Sam Hartman and running back Audric Estimé

Here’s the video, which is an impressively accurate parody of an iconic scene from the movie “Jerry Maguire.”

Here are more looks at the uniform.

Last year, Notre Dame wore a green jersey top with gold pants. The jerseys had blue lettering, much to the chagrin of viewers everywhere. The numbers were tough to see inside Notre Dame Stadium when the Irish beat California, 24-17. The white numbers on the new jerseys should pop a little more for what will be a sold-out environment in South Bend on Sept. 23. Fans are encouraged to match the players in wearing green that night in what has been dubbed the
“Irish Wear Green” game.

The Irish have four games preceding the highly anticipated Saturday night showdown against the Buckeyes. They begin the season in Week 0 versus Navy at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Notre Dame began fall camp a week earlier than most programs across the country because of the early start. Monday marks the Irish’s fifth fall camp practice. There are 26 days until the season opener on Aug. 26.

After taking on Navy, the Irish return home the following week to host Tennessee State. It will be the first ever game Notre Dame has played against an FCS opponent. Tennessee State is led by former Ohio State running back Eddie George, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1995.

The Irish go on the road in Week 2 for a noon kickoff versus NC State. That’ll be a tricky one for a few reasons. Quarterback Brennan Armstrong is in Raleigh now, and Hartman struggled against the Wolfpack in his time with Wake Forest. He posted a 1-2 record. On two occasions, he threw three interceptions.

The pre-Ohio State wraps up with a home game versus Central Michigan on Sept. 16. The Buckeyes will ease into competition before heading to South Bend, meanwhile, with a road game at Indiana to start the season and home games against Youngstown State and Western Kentucky. Ohio State beat Notre Dame, 21-10, in Columbus in last year’s season opener.
