The Hey Horka! BlueandGold.com message board mailbag column originates each week with a message board thread titled “Hey Horka!” Subscribers are prompted to ask Blue & Gold beat writer Tyler Horka questions about Notre Dame football. He answers all of them in the thread and in an article that publishes later in the week at BlueandGold.com.

Every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET, Horka hosts a YouTube live show with coworker Jack Soble discussing in greater detail some of the most pressing questions from the thread. You can watch the show via the video player on this web page or by visiting Blue & Gold’s YouTube channel.

This week’s questions, from users whose Lou Somogyi Message Board names appear after the dashes, are …

-What is the best offensive strategy for Notre Dame against Texas A&M? — Xray93

-Is this a must-win for Marcus Freeman‘s longterm job security? — Bsmitty8

-You’re writing about Notre Dame’s convincing win over Texas A&M on Saturday. What would the score need to be and what needs to go right for the Irish for that to happen? — Toe Fuzz

More about this week’s show

• The show starts with some banter about how exciting it is to be on the cusp of another Notre Dame football season. At the time of recording, there were just under 72 hours until kickoff between the Fighting Irish and Texas A&M Aggies.

• The first two questions from message board subscribers get watchers and listeners thinking about this weekend’s game itself. How is it going to start? How does it need to start from a Notre Dame perspective? Do the Irish need to deliver the opening blow or can they sustain it and punch back? What does striking first or punching back look like in terms of how the Irish offense will operate? Plenty of ball to discuss.

• The final two questions are big-picture focused. What would a win mean for Freeman? What about a loss? How do the Irish leave no doubt and win big in this one? The guys go over all of the different scenarios there.

• There are also some prop bets entertained by the guys, all brought to their attention by Slevmania on the message board. The over/unders are..
– o/u 80 receiving yards for Notre Dame wideout Kris Mitchell
– o/u 1.5 touchdowns for Irish running backs Jeremiyah Love
– o/u 0.5 sacks for Notre Dame defensive end RJ Oben
– o/u 1.5 turnovers for the Texas A&M offense
