It’ll be the first of three games at a neutral site for Notre Dame this season. The Fighting Irish face Navy at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on Oct. 26 and Army at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 23.
ESPN’s Football Power Index predictive model gives the Irish an 81.1 percent chance to beat the Yellow Jackets. Notre Dame has had a strong record against ACC competition in the regular season lately, but some of that good will was squandered in losses to Louisville and Clemson last season.
This year, Notre Dame is 1-0 against ACC opponents so far with a 31-24 victory over Louisville. The Irish face Stanford this week for their second ACC game of the season in addition to Florida state and Virginia at home in November.
Wins over those teams won’t do anything for Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff résumé, and a victory over the Yellow Jackets is in that same category. But the Irish still need every win they can get to be in the CFP running come December. It’s a must-win for ND in Atlanta.
