COLUMBUS, Ohio — It’s college football time in Columbus, Ohio. Notre Dame and Ohio State is finally here.

Fourth quarter

11:57: Notre Dame punted back to Ohio State. An offensive pass interference penalty on Matt Salerno derailed an otherwise promising drive. Sot pinned the Buckeyes at their own four-yard line.

Score: Buckeyes 14, Irish 10

4:51: Ohio State went on a 14-play, 95-yard drive against a gassed Notre Dame defense. The drive was capped by a two-yard touchdown rush by Miyan Williams.

Score: Buckeyes 21, Irish 10

3:42: Notre Dame went three-and-out on a series that culminated in an 11-yard sack of Buchner. The play punctuated an overall ugly offensive day for the Irish.

FINAL: Ohio State 21, Notre Dame 10

Third quarter

11:53: Ohio State went three-and-out to begin the second half. Notre Dame drove 35 yards in six plays and was greatly aided by a 15-yard unsportsmanlike late hit on Tyler Buchner, but the Irish drive stalled at the 36-yard line. Notre Dame punter Jon Sot pinned the Buckeyes at their own seven-yard line.

10:30: Notre Dame linebacker Bo Bauer is carted off the field.

0:17: Ohio State takes the lead on a 24-yard touchdown pass from CJ Stroud to Xavier Johnson. The Buckeyes leaned on their running game to get down into a scoring area.

Second quarter

11:56: The Irish put together the drive of the game to this point by going 87 yards in 10 plays. Audric Estime punched the ball in on a fullback dive from the one-yard line. Tyler Buchner hit wide receiver Matt Salerno on an immaculate 31-yard catch on third and two on the first play of the quarter. Then he found tight end Kevin Bauman wide open on a seam for 22 on the next play. The Irish converted on third and two twice in the drive.

Score: Irish 10, Buckeyes 7

5:31: Notre Dame punts back to Ohio State after failing to convert on third and three from the Irish 28. Tyler Buchner did a nice job of moving the Irish out to there with a 12-yard scamper. Running back Logan Diggs got his first three carries of the game on the drive too. The Ohio State offense operated without wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on its previous drive. He was shaken up on a hit from Irish safety Brandon Joseph in the first quarter.

Score: Irish 10, Buckeyes 7

0:00: Smith-Njigga returned, but he couldn’t help the Buckeyes get into the end zone at the end of an 11-play, 55-yard drive that resulted in a 39-yard missed field goal in the final minute of the half. Notre Dame out-gained Ohio State 181-149 in total yards in the first half.

First quarter

12:13: Notre Dame takes a 3-0 lead on a 33-yard Blake Grupe field goal. The score was set up by a 54-yard reception by Lorenzo Styles. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Buchner hit Styles on a a stop. The Ohio State defensive back sold out for an interception or pass breakup, and it bit him.

5:32: The Buckeyes strike for seven on the game’s first touchdown. Irish corner Cam Hart was hit for pass interference trying to cover Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. Three plays later, Egbuka burned Hart for a 31-yard touchdown to give the home team the lead.
