WATCH LIVE: Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman previews North Carolina
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman is finally a winner. The first-year Fighting Irish head coach notched his first career victory with Notre Dame’s 24-17 win over Cal last weekend.
If he’s learned anything through his first four games (including the 37-35 loss to Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1) it’s that leading any program at this level, let alone one with the prestige of Notre Dame, isn’t an easy task.
Freeman didn’t take win No. 1 for granted.
“I keep trying to tell myself to enjoy it,” Freeman said. “There’s a lot of coaching that happened on that field today that we can learn from, but listen, if you don’t take a minute to enjoy these things, you’re going to regret it. That’s what I keep reminding myself is enjoy this victory.”
